In July 2017, The State Council of China released the “ New Generation Artificial Intelligence Development Plan ” (新一代人工智能发展规划). China’s AI Development An Asia House conference in partnership with the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business Beijing has set its sights on becoming an AI superpower, with a blueprint for investing in AI that would create a US$150 billion industry by 2030.

China’s AI Development Report 2018, a study from Tsinghua University, says, “The market value of China’s AI industry reached 23.7 billion yuan (about USD $3.5 billion) in 2017, with the growth rate expected to reach 75 per cent in 2018.” In 2018, 60% of total global AI investments poured into China.
This policy outlines China’s strategy to build a domestic AI industry worth nearly US$150 billion in the next few years and to become the leading AI power by 2030. The AI market in China is massive.
